Bedard. Hat Trick. Be Happy.
Looking at last nights win and some NHL news.
Well, the Blackhawks are rolling.
They still hold a wild card spot, they’re 6-2-2 in their last 10, and as the “American Thanksgiving deadline” approaches, the Hawks are likely at least playoff contenders. This may shift Kyle Davidson’s approach to the trade deadline. Although I’m fairly certain he’ll stick to his original plan and not make any drastic moves.
Like I always say: it’s still a little early.
The Hawks have been riding a league-high PDO for some time (1.050). Eventually, things will crash down. And that’s fine. I mean, the Montreal Canadiens are going through a real rough stretch of their own, although that can be pinpointed to injuries (Alex Newhook and Kirby Dach among some), piss-poor goaltending, and some questionable coaching decisions.
For the Hawks, their success is carried by a superstar performance in Connor Bedard, Spencer Knight having an outstanding season, and maybe some puck luck. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Jeff Blashill thus far and have no serious qualms about his tactical decisions (yet). I think if the Hawks hit a dreadful spell, it’s going to come in the form of Knight and Bedard going through spells of their own.
Anyway, I covered the Hawks’ 5-2 win over the Flames, which you can read about below. Also, some NHL news at the bottom.
