Skip to the last paragraph to get the gist of this.
It’s the rare weekend email. I owe you guys that much after a week’s worth of silence.
Changing how emails work just to see how that goes.
Instead of receiving the article in its entirety, you’ll receive an email with links to both my On Tap Sports Net stuff and the work you usually get here.
On Tap Sports Net Goodies
I’ve been trying to figure out how to integrate my On Tap stuff here. I started doing daily-ish Hawks news updates over there and do weekly Hawks news updates. I’ll link those in the email alongside any On Tap previews and recaps that I do. When I’m not doing a recap, I’ll do a write-up here and include that as well.
Game Previews No More
I’ll probably stop game previews here for a bit, only because I have a couple of writing projects that I’m getting into and don’t want to burn myself out. I think the recaps are more important than previews.
Plate of Poutine
So, for this paragraph, if you were a Blackhawks fan in the 70’s, I recommend leaving the room now. I’m going to start writing some Montreal Canadiens stuff here. No, I’m not a Habs fan. I don’t think you can truly be fans of two sports teams in the same league. People who wear jerseys with two teams on them are clowns.
I follow the Habs only because of my French-Canadian heritage and because when the Hawks are horrible, they are at least a little fun to watch. I totally get it if you don’t want to read that.
The Projects
There are also a couple of personal projects that I’m working on that I might share here. The first is a project I’m doing for Helmand Valley Archive, a page I run on Instagram. Sometime early next year, I’ll be doing some research on the Afghan Civil War. You’ll get those links when that’s published.
I’m keeping the other project under wraps until it proves that it can breathe and live.
That’s it for now. If there are things that you liked, reach out. If I don’t get feedback, there’s a good chance things change (like the previews).
What To Expect?
Emails will be sent around lunchtime (Chicago time) during the work week. You’ll get links to my On Tap work, recaps for games I don’t cover at On Tap, links to Habs stuff, and my thoughts on Hawks business. We’ll try this for next week and see how that goes.
