Hawk Thoughts: Boisvert, Harding, and Painful Musings
Some updates about the Blackhawks as you head into an NHL filled night that doesn't include our Hawks.
With the Blackhawks taking a break for two days (they come back tomorrow, don’t you worry), I figured it’s time for some Hawk thoughts. First up, links. We have content for you to consume.
Four Feathers dropped a new podcast episode.
The Blackhawks signed another prospect who will be playing in Rockford. Don’t expect him to see the NHL anytime soon. Doing so makes him ineligible for the IceHogs playoff run.
It looks like 2024 first-round pick, Sacha Boisvert will be leaving North Dakota after a recent coaching change.

Something that I’ve been seeing is whether or not Kevin Korchinski should be traded.
You can accuse me of falling in love with prospects. But Korchinski hasn’t hit 90 games in the NHL yet. He’s 20 years old. It takes about 200 games for a defenseman to “figure it out” or at the very least, “figure out where they need to be.” A big reason why he’s struggling, other than inexperience, is his physicality on defense. Korch needs to get swoll.
But, does trading Korchinski make sense? He’s a first-round pick, has incredible offensive instinct, is young, and has a ton of potential (all the reasons I want to keep him). But could the Blackhawks use him in a trade to get a more impactful forward that could potentially kick-start this rebuild?
Imagine. The Blackhawks somehow get Mitch Marner as a free agent and then Kyle Davidson gets a little aggressive, throws Korch in a deal, and nabs someone nice.
I’m just trying to see how the other shoe fits.

Ovechkin is five goals away. The Capitals play Boston tonight, the Hurricanes tomorrow, and then the Hawks on Friday. Knock on wood.
There’s some Tkachuk news for you. Brady is out for Ottawa with an upper-body injury. Matthew is back on the ice for Florida but is not expected to play any time soon.
The NHL is about to get another brother duo. Taylor Makar signed with the Avalanche following his college season with the University of Maine. He signed an ATO with their AHL affiliate. Here’s a Cale goal for you though.
