Some Thoughts On Carle, Vlasic And Nazar To Worlds, And A Dach Update
Ramblings about the Blackhawks upcoming coaching hire and some small updates.
Happy Friday.
I have an awesome podcast episode and some Blackhawks updates for you to kick off the weekend on the right foot.
But first, let’s talk some coaching.
I address it in the most recent Four Feathers episode, which you can find below, but I wanted to ramble on a little more about it.
David Carle is someone the Blackhawks need to be doing everything they can to get him signed. But Carle has all of the power in negotiations, with the ability to say “no.” But the Blackhawks’ pockets are deep. While Carle has the pedigree of a winning coach who can work with young players (perfect for the Hawks), he lacks NHL experience. Something other teams may be wary of.
They’ll be wary because they want to either win now or at least be close to playoffs. A head coach with no NHL experience is bound to have some growing pains, and it’s not a sure recipe for success. It may take a couple of seasons to figure out NHL coaching.
For the Blackhawks, they won’t be near the playoffs next season. Even with a goal of being a better team. That’s a lot of cushion for a new coach. But I thought the same thing about Luke Richardson. And the Hawks had the lowly goal of being better than 30th place.
For Carle, if he chooses to leave the comfortable and stable career of coaching an NCAA team, he’ll want security. Something NHL coaches don’t have. Just ask Luke Richardson.
There’s a lot of talk about how the Blackhawks are the perfect match for Carle, which I believe is as close to perfect as it can be. But it’s not perfect. If Carle doesn’t want to go to Chicago, who do the Hawks bring on?
Last night, we bid the Blackhawks’ 2024 season farewell in our latest Four Feathers Podcast episode. You can check it out below:
