The Draft Lottery - Picking Third
The Blackhawks are picking third in this years draft, what next?
The Blackhawks are going to be picking third in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Does not picking No. 1 overall hurt the Blackhawks? No. In fact, I’m actually very happy they didn’t win it. While it would be better for the Blackhawks to stay pat at No. 2, picking at third isn’t horrible. You can read about my thoughts on that in the link below:
The next question is, who do the Blackhawks pick? Or, you could even ask, what do they do with that pick? Do they trade it?
The consensus No. 1 in this year’s draft is defenseman Matthew Schaeffer. The Hawks don’t need another defenseman. After that, Michael Misa has made himself a strong consensus No. 2, although not everyone seems to agree.
If Misa is somehow available at 3, the Hawks should grab him. He’s a sizable center who can play on the wing
After Misa, things get a little interesting.
I’m not, as they say on Faxes From Uncle Dale, a prospect pervert. So, I need to do my homework before I can really say who I like after Misa. Porter Martone is a name that has been thrown around a lot, and without my research, I like what I’ve heard/read. But he’s slow. The Blackhawks have always picked the fastest players in the draft, at least under Kyle Davidson.

I’ll be doing write-ups for each of the prospects that could be taken at No. 3 in the draft.
A head coach update will come out at On Tap Sports sometime this week. A look at who’s out and some additional candidates.
I’ve been messing around on Instagram and sharing Blackhawks content amongst other stuff. It’s a portfolio for all my writing. Link below.
