Wake up, hockey season is just around the corner.
With summer coming to a close, I figured I would give an update on the blog and what to expect for the upcoming season.
Pretty stoked to see this blog entering its second season. Last year was definitely “experimental.” Still figuring things out, but I have a good idea of how the blog will work out this season.
One thing that will impact things is life. Without going into personal details, the start of the NHL season coincides with a pretty big personal event. So, expect less articles during the end of October and into early November.
I might also be getting a new position at work, which impacts things as well. I might get busier, or things might be slower. If things get busier, you might only get Blackhawks Weekly Updates. If things are slower or stay the same, I should be able to do more.
Anyway, here’s whats planned:
Blackhawks Weekly Updates
This will continue to be the main course of the website. Looking to start this back up Sept 8, which is the week Rookie Camp starts.
I might change up the format a bit, we’ll see.
Game Recaps
This is what I want to be the main course… if I had the time.
Normally, you can expect smaller recaps included with the Weekly Updates. When time/life permits, I’ll do more in-depth recaps like I did last year.
Prospects
I’m limiting this to a section within the Weekly Updates.
I won’t have dedicated posts to the World Juniors or an NHL Draft preview like I did last year. It’s too time-consuming and I just don’t get into prospects like some people do.
Analytics
I’ll occasionally do player breakdowns or take a look at the Hawks’ “x’s and o’s.” Should be a good season to do that since Richardson will be critically analyzed.
Again, this depends on life.
UpComing Articles:
Season Preview: Sept. 7ish
Analytics: A look at Mrazek’s numbers (sometime before the season starts)
Anything Else?
And that’s pretty much it. You get a weekly update on the Hawks which includes news, prospects, game recaps, etc. You’ll get the occasional player breakdown and hockey tactics breakdown.
Now, if I was ambitious and had some help, I would have regular game recaps, gameday threads, prospect analysis, draft previews… etc.
But it's just me so this is what you get.
Oh, and shameless plug for my skateboarding history blog: Gnar Days.
Let’s Go Hawks.
